Attention Deficit Disorders

We've all had those horrible moments in our lives when everything seems out of control.
We can't concentrate.
We can't finish one task before another crops up. And forget about getting anywhere on time.
For children and adults with Attention Deficit Disorders, it is more than just moments. Every day feels chaotic. Often, they're not sure why they have so many problems with school, work or relationships.
They have a nagging suspicion something's wrong, but they can't put a name to it. What they do know is that they suffer from frequent, painful failures.  Medical and Psychiatric associations estimate that three and half million children and two to three million adults have this disorder.

Key characteristics for Children are:

  • Inattention-trouble sustaining focus.
  • Impulsivity-acting before thinking.
  • Hyperactivity-fidgety, restless, overly talkative.
  • Childhood symptoms can continue into adulthood.

Key characteristics in Adults are:

  • Inability to manage time.
  • Difficulty communicating.
  • Uneven job performance.
  • Problems with close relationships.
  • Feeling unfocused and disorganized.
Of course, we all have these difficulties from time to time, but for those with ADD, it can turn into a lifetime of unfulfilled dreams.

If you suspect you have ADD, talk to us.

We'll explain how the ADD Resource and Treatment Center offers integrated, comprehensive care for the full range of disorders associated with ADD and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).  Hyperactivity describes people who tend to he restless, fidgety, excessively talkative and seemingly as if they're driven by a motor.

This is an exciting time to seek treatment for ADD. Today, there's a lot more attention being paid to inattention. There's more interest, research and expertise.  But finding the right kind of integrated and comprehensive help isn't easy.
