Yes, every Virtual Domain Name Account we host includes a "cgi-bin" sub-directory off of the root of that domain's Web space. This cgi-bin sub-folder has the necessary permissions for you to run Perl, ISAPI, and other CGI applications (such as ".exe" pre-compiled executables).
DPweb, Inc. leased servers operate only Microsoft NT 4.0 Web servers. The PERL version currently installed is Perl for ISAPI build 310 available from ActiveSate Software. We recommend that you pre-test your Perl scripts prior to uploading and running them on our servers. You wouldn't want to test a Perl script with a recursive loop that crashes or Web server because you might inconvenience quite a few of our other clients located on the same Web server as yours. You can download the latest version of Perl for ISAPI, which is currently build 315 at http://www.ActiveState.com/ftp/Perl-Win32/Release/Pw32i315.exe.
DPweb, Inc. automatically installs three CGI applications in your CGI-bin as well as the corresponding HTML documents pre-configured for your immediate use when your domain accounts are created.
Description CGI File HTML Document
Hit Counter: /cgi-bin/counter.exe /counter.htm
Form-to-Email: /cgi-bin/feedback.plx /feedback.htm
Guestbook: /cgi-bin/guestbook.plx /guestbook.htm
While DPweb, Inc. allows you to upload and run your own CGI and Perl scripts yourself, we request that you consider this a privilege and not a right. If you continually upload badly written or incompatible scripts that result in server performance interruptions or crashes, we will ask you to stop running scripts that are problematic. If we determine that you are abusing your CGI privileges, we will deactivate your cgi-bin.
